Motorcycle Accidents Lead to Growing Number of Fatalities

Comments Off

Across the country, the number of fatalities related to motorcycle accidents more than doubled in the years between 1995 and 2005. This correlates directly to the fact that the number of motorcycle and scooter sales has more than tripled in that same amount of time.

The Ventura County Star has a great story about this and other factors that affect motorcycle accident fatalities. They also offer up yet another piece of evidence that helmets save lives:

The state’s helmet law is a big help in saving lives. The NHTSA estimates that more than 1,500 lives nationwide were saved in 2005 because of helmets and an additional 728 riders could have lived if they had been wearing helmets.
